Reading College and University Centre would like to congratulate all the students who passed their A Level qualifications today. The college celebrates a 97.4% pass rate, 1.4% up on last year.
The Reading College and University Centre Chemistry department maintained a 100% pass rate for the second year, 7% up from the national average. English Language and Literature students also had a 100% pass rate for the second year, 3% above the national average.
Other notable subject areas that achieved a 100% pass included:
- Geography, which achieved a pass rate 3% above the national average
- History, which was 2% above the national average.
- Psychology, which was 5% above the national average.
- Religious Studies, which was 5% above the national average
- Sociology students, which was 3% above the national average.
Nine of the 14 A Level subjects at Reading College and University Centre secured 100% pass rates.
Hannah O鈥橬eill, Group Director of Academic Studies Faculty at 杏吧专区, said: “We are immensely proud of our A Level learners at Reading College and University Centre, who have worked tirelessly to achieve their goals. Many have overcome challenges along the way, demonstrating resilience and commitment to success. We wish every learner the best of luck for their next steps.
鈥淚 would also like to thank the fantastic team of teachers, support staff and managers who have nurtured our learners through their studies. Their hard work and dedication to our Learning Philosophy enables our learners to succeed and grow.
There will be students across the country who have not achieved their desired outcomes and feel disappointed, but I urge these individuals to use this feeling as motivation to keep working hard, and to be open to new opportunities to develop and learn.”
Leo Wong was one of the college鈥檚 top performers, achieving three A grades in Maths, Physics and Chemistry. He will now take up an offer from the University of Bristol where he will study Mechanical Engineering.
Leo said: 鈥淚t was a pleasure studying here (Reading College). All of my teachers were amazing, they were all ready to help me whenever I needed it and it was really nice being in their class.鈥
Sarah Cruz was also one of the college鈥檚 top achievers, achieving an A* grade in Sociology and A grades in Psychology and Business Studies. She will now take up an offer from City of London University where she plans to study Business Management with a view to progressing onto a Masters in the future.
Sarah said: 鈥淚 just moved to the country three years ago and this is my first, proper educational institution that I’ve been in ever since I’ve moved. It’s been really welcoming. I didn’t feel out of place and I had a lot of support from faculty because I didn’t know what I wanted to do in the future.”
Olivia Gascoyne achieved an A* grade in Psychology, a B grade in English Language and Literature, and a C grade in Physics. She now plans to take a gap year to work, save up money and see more of the world before going on to university to study either Psychology or Neuroscience.
Olivia said: 鈥淪tudying here really helped me because I feel that I study better independently, so it was great getting to have more freedom than we would get in a school or Sixth Form.”
Nikola Wojtyra achieved three C grades in Psychology, History and Criminology. She has now accepted an offer from the Royal Holloway University of London where she will study Psychology.
Nikola said: 鈥淚’m really happy because I got into my firm choice for university next year. I enjoyed studying here at Reading College, I was able to take things at my own pace, like if I needed to take a moment, I could take that time without feeling like I would be hunted down and get into trouble.鈥

鈥淲e are particularly proud of the significant grade improvements this year across the 杏吧专区 group, which is a testament to the efforts of our students and teachers, overall:
- 97.6% of students that took an exam got a grade, an increase of 3.7% on last year.
- High grades have increased 鈥 A* grades are 1.9%, A-B are 7%, and A-C are 14.5% higher than last year.
- 12 subjects achieved a 100% pass rate.
